Is there a mattress size larger than a king?

King size mattresses are 76″ wide x 80″ long.

California King mattresses are 72″ wide x 84″ long.

If you need something bigger there are specialty mattress makers who will build anything that you need.

Unusual size mattresses will also require custom built bed frames or platforms to hold them.

Can a double mattress fit on a full-size frame?

The term “double mattress” is not an official furniture description.

I have heard it used as synonymous to “full size mattress.”

A “full size” mattress is 54″ wide. If your mattress is approximately 54″ wide it should fit in a full size frame.

Why doesn’t everyone replace their box springs with a steel support frame for their mattress?

Box springs (or box foundations without springs) rest on top of steel support frames. The mattress sits on top of the box foundation.

Steel support frames are not solid. The rails and cross supports have large spaces between them that would allow a flexible mattress to fall through.

A few mattresses are made with built-in foundations that can be used directly with steel springs. The disadvantage is that the mattress cannot be turned over.

Also, the combination of the steel frame, foundation and mattress puts the sleeping surface at the proper height most people are comfortable with.

Insider's Guide to Furniture | Revealing the Furniture Industry's Secrets

🛋️  Enter the brain of a furniture expert 🧠

📚  Explore an extensive catalogue of knowledge 🤓

👍  Make the best furniture choices ✅

If you’re wondering about buying furniture, you’ve come to the right place.

Welcome to the Insider’s Guide to Furniture.  We want to be the first and last name in furniture.  Period.

So we’ve compiled an interactive directory of articles, questions, and expert answers.  All designed to educate and inform one person: you, the potential furniture buyer.

This Guide was made to provide information not readily available.  It’s chock-full of detailed information that you can’t get from retail stores and salespeople.  And inside information you can’t get from manufacturers and company websites.

The Insider’s Guide to Furniture is exactly what it claims to be.

We’re happy to share our extensive knowledge of:

  • Retail furniture stores

  • Brand quality and cost

  • Leather furniture

  • Online furniture shopping

  • Furniture maintenance, cleaning, and repairs

  • Furniture construction and quality

  • Interior Design

  • Opinions on the industry

So if you’re looking for brand information, furniture construction practices, and quality analyses, this Guide is for you.

The driving mind behind the Insider’s Guide is Jeff Frank.  And Jeff is no stranger to the furniture industry.

Jeff has been working in furniture for decades.  He has received 7 patents for original furniture designs and has worked directly with large and small retailers, manufacturers, designers, and suppliers.

It’s safe to say he’s a true furniture insider.

After being a part of the industry for so long, Jeff wanted to give back.  He was tired of seeing customers swindled into products they didn’t need or paying too much for a lackluster sofa.  So he started pooling his knowledge and experience in one easy-to-find location.

Thus, the Insider’s Guide to Furniture was born.  With Jeff’s four decades of experience and passion for furniture as its basis, it’s only grown bigger and bigger.

Within the Insider’s Guide to Furniture, you’ll find:

  • Furniture construction insights and quality reviews

  • Comparisons of different brands

  • Specifics relating to furniture designs

  • Costs and how they affect product design and quality

  • Shopping tips

  • Pros and Cons of online furniture shopping

  • Advertising tricks and scams to avoid

  • What warranties really cover (and what they don’t)

The majority of people who buy furniture online or in-store go in blind.  It’s easy to be star-struck by glamorous showrooms and fast-talking salespeople.  Then you find yourself with a leather couch that breaks in 2 months.  (And that you may have paid way too much for!)

So if you can’t trust retailers or manufacturers, who do you turn to?

You need a tip from an insider.

We’ll directly vet your furniture choices so you know that you’re making the right purchases.  Our consulting services are designed with you in mind.  Talk directly to a pro and make sure you’re getting the right piece of furniture for you and your budget.

Take advantage of our wealth of knowledge to create the best furniture buying experience.  And use our guides to buy with the confidence of a 40-year industry veteran.

Though the Insider’s Guide to Furniture benefits greatly from the experience of our founder, Jeff Frank isn’t our only contributor.  We work directly with other industry insiders to get you the absolute best information.  We publish guest blogs, industry-sponsored posts, and furniture-specific press releases.

All so you have all the information you need to make the right decisions for you.

So when it comes time to buy that new couch or re-do the living room, don’t go in blind.  Get some advice from people who have been there.  From people who have been in the industry for 40+ years and learned the ins and outs of furniture.

Go with Insider’s Guide to Furniture and make your next best decision.
